You’ve probably seen models that offer “convection baking” if you’ve been shopping for an oven or range in the last decade. Convection baking has been more popular in recent years. But, you might be thinking, what the differences are between regular and convection bake? This should help you make the right choice for you.
It can be difficult to decide which oven is best. Each oven has its strengths and weaknesses. However, knowing the difference between convection baking and regular baking can make a big difference in your kitchen.
What is Convection Bake?
It sounds sophisticated but what exactly is convection baking? It’s simply an oven with one fan, or more if need be, and an exhaust system to circulate air through the cavity of the oven. This allows for more even cooking temperatures.
Convection fans distribute heat evenly around the dishes instead of radiating only from the top or bottom. A convection fan also has an exhaust system that helps remove moisture from the cavity.
You will get a more even cooking result, but your food should also be cooked faster at a lower temperature. Convection cooking is as easy as following the “25 rule”. Reduce the temperature by 25% and cook your dishes 25% faster than in a traditional oven.
What is a regular bake?
We are all familiar with the basic principles of an electric oven. To direct heat to your dishes, they use either a radiant baking element or a broil element.
Convection bake is much more efficient than regular bake due to the absence of fans in a conventional oven. There won’t be constant air circulation in the cavity. This will cause certain areas to heat more than others and will also result in more moisture.
These aren’t necessarily bad things. Both types of ovens can do certain things well and others not well.
What is Convection Baking?
Convection baking is not for all foods. If you love to bake cakes, convection baking may not be for you. Convection ovens can cook most dishes faster and produce better results.
Convection cooking has many great uses.
If you aren’t sure if your oven needs to be replaced, consider buying a countertop oven which has convection capabilities.
You should now be able choose the right oven by knowing the differences between convection and regular bake. For all your oven repair and service needs, call Fixify Appliance Repair service in Suffolk County.
